ECO-FRIENDLY & SUSTAINABLE GRILLING

No trees are felled for our coconut briquettes, bamboo charcoal & marabou charcoal – we upcycle and plant additional trees.

FLOOD PROTECTION

The tree roots increase the water retention capacity of the soil by forming a system of cavities. The soil is also held together by the roots, which prevents landslides.

CONVERSION OF CO2 TO OXYGEN

Every day, a mature tree provides enough oxygen for up to 15 people to breathe.

COOLING THE SOIL

It has been proven that forests are cooler than fields or cities. Especially in already warm countries, forests are often cleared due to poverty. Reforestation is particularly important here.

A single tree is home to hundreds of living beings: insects, fungi, mosses, rodents, birds, and many more. Not only are these animals dependent on trees; a million animal and plant species worldwide are now threatened with extinction. Planting trees together

We not only want to prevent more trees from being cut down, but also ensure that new trees are planted. The world should be able to breathe better and become greener!

That's why we donate a portion of our proceeds to reforestation. And every individual can help make the world a little greener.

In addition to our sustainable barbecue charcoal made from bamboo shavings or coconut shells, you can now also purchase trees with your order, which will be planted where they are most needed. 100% of the money goes towards the reforestation of rainforests where deforestation is particularly severe and our global climate is threatened.

Independent Research & Testing

According to the UN, over 50% of the world's felled trees are processed into charcoal. In the following articles, WMF, ÖKO-TEST, and Süddeutsche Zeitung address the question of how eco-friendly our charcoal is.

COCONUT SHELL CHARCOAL – the eco-friendly alternative

Industry has long used the coconut palm to produce a wide variety of products. However, it is limited to the flesh (copra) and fruit water (coconut water) of the coconut. The coconut shell is usually not used and is disposed of and burned as a "waste product".

McBrikett practices upcycling, the recycling of waste products, and has recognized the potential of the coconut shell. It has made it its mission to process and upgrade this 100% natural and extremely energy-rich by-product of industry into a useful everyday product, in the spirit of sustainability and environmental protection.

BAMBOO – the green all-rounder

As bamboo is a type of grass, it grows particularly quickly. Depending on the species, bamboo "lignifies" after just 3-5 years and can be harvested for further processing.

In the industrial manufacturing of bamboo products, bamboo shavings are produced, which are usually simply disposed of. This by-product provides the raw material for our high-quality bamboo briquettes. Thus, we have utilized the potential of this sustainable source for reuse.

MARABU – Premium Charcoal from Cuba

The MARABU tree is actually a bush and is unsuitable for the furniture industry due to its gnarled growth. However, it grows quite quickly and is therefore regularly pruned for forest and landscape maintenance. And so that the wood is not simply burned pointlessly, the unsaleable wood is used for energy generation in the form of first-class charcoal.

The export of Marabú charcoal is now developing into a promising economic factor with mutual benefits. The tree is, of course, not subject to the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
